Personally, we didn't like these books. The characters have no dimensions, you can list what pathetic traits they have on one hand and still have room left. Some of you think that Twilight is a great love story... it's NOT! These books create fantasies that do not serve the human race any good. What is the ultimate moral of this story? Exile yourself so you can make others happy. Fall in love with a dangerously weak person who is emotionally abusive. Leave what good friends you can have behind for that person and think of nothing else but them. Put yourself in mortal danger so you can have hallucinations after the abusive person has left you and then go crawling pitifully back into their arms when they come back. Ignore the good advice from friends and family and stay in that abusive relationship. Abandon your whole life, a good life, for eternity in blind infatuation. (Devil says: you can all have something like that when you're down there with me) If you have any sense, any self preservation, DO NOT FOLLOW THOSE BOOKS RELIGIOUSLY AND IGNORE ALL THE GOOD LITERATURE OUT THERE! If you want a REAL vampire story, read Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Yes we know that the characters will be too multidimensional for you to understand at first and the delicious storytelling will have you questioning most of your preconceptions about things, just push through and persevere. Several of you will most certainly be angry by what we have said, that's ok, because God loves you and the Devil can't wait to read you some actual works of the art of the mind when you see him. TEAM REAL VAMPIRES AND GOOD BOOKS!!!

Well, I usually am a dark chocolate fan but Midnight reverie's so horrible. Just a little bit is okay but more than a little bit is vomit inducing...:( I hope the twilight delight is better...

What upsets me more than the book is the fan base.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the plotholes. When it comes to plotholes, Twilight is Swiss Cheese.

Why did the Volturi take 2 months to get to Forks?

Why are the Cullens going to school? I repeat, why would anyone-vampire or not-repeat high school several times over?

How does anyone accept Meyer's "private mind" explanation for why Edward can't read her mind?

Renesmee? Anyone?

Periods? Nutrient rich tissue is not "dead blood"

Stone? How would vamps move?

Sparkles???

Death by public sparkling?? Wouldn't everyone presume he's just gay and glittered for the festival? I mean...come on!

How would a mind reading vampire detect a policeman? What, do police always think about donuts and speeding tickets?

This book is for those who enjoy reading without anything thinking required. For me, reading is an intellectual pursuit...Twilight is fun and dumb, but in the end it's still a self-insertion sexual fantasy.

Did someone just say the person who wrote this article was JEALOUS os Smeyer??Wtf???
Meyer has NO talent at all.She writes like a freaking 7th grader.Twilight is just a properly punctuated fanfiction, and the fact that people are accepting at as a good book simply screams the fact that they are as dull as the people who thought the earth was flat-and guess what?It wasn't.

Twilight=DISTURBING.
I cannot believe Meyers level of writing. It is not literature,it is merely a product. One of my friends, who happens to be the TOPPER of our grade, and who also reads classics is ACTUALLY attracted to that patehtic excuse of a novel.Highly disturbing.
I think I just found out the difference between people who like and dislike Twilight...
The ones who like it merely read for pleasure. They let their emotions get in the way,and they are blinded by them. The ones who do not, read for pleasure AND they happen to analyze whatever they are reading-which might be the reason why they have better taste in books.

I sooo agree with this review! I read Twilight myself and after chapter 7 I tossed it to the floor and snagged my Anne Rice Vampire book.
Let's just leave it at this, I enjoy books with a plot, realistic and not oh-my-god-he-is-such-a-hottie-look-at-his-face-and-his-topaz-eyes people. Also, I hate Bella. She's annyoying and plain.
Sorry Ms. Meyer, but maybe you should stick to books like "The Host". Or if you want a ton of money on a crappy book, by all means write another pile of Twilight Saga garbage.

Hey...
Just thought I'd send a shout-out saying that I whole-heartedly agree with you. Twilight is a sluggish collection of soggy angsty crap and I am extrememly relieved there are several other sentinent beings in this galaxy that agree as my school seems to be devoid of them.

I found this book questionable as I sat through the first chapter out of curiosity about the hype and waiting to be picked up to go home.
My friends all love the Twilight series and I was quite sceptic about the plot as I have taken a shine to Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and her Gothic writing style and all the old-world history involved in her books.
I read the first few pages and found it moderately enjoyable, not amazing but not terrible. Then, I got deeper into the book and the line (I can't remember it exactly): "And then I saw them..." made the throw the book down.
Give me detail, more background, give me a BETTER main character. I didn't care for Bella as she set up to be a girl high school teenagers can relate to. A modest, clumsy, non-athletic girl who has the same personality as plain yoghurt and room temperature.
I would say I'm a fan of romance novels but ones with complexity. I prefer novels with MORE than romance. I prefer books like 1984 by George Orwell. Romance included in that. I cannot ever see the Twilight series being books teenagers get handed in English lessons to analyze. There's no psychological value to it or hidden motifs.
I would recommend this book to a friend with a low reading age and not much experience with other books... with the summary of, "A masturbatory aid for twelve-year-old girls across the globe."
